Mary Harrington talks about this stuff in relation to transhumanism. See her essay on hyperpalatable humans

Why is that obnoxious woman on the street asking people for their opinions on something, then getting mad at their opinions?

1. Long hair: Not man made, differences in hair reflect hormonal differences between the sexes.
2. Red lips: Not man made, as above.
3. Big boobs, hips etc. : Not man made, duh.
4. No hair in certain areas: Not man made (unfortunately a sign of extreme youth if you get my meaning).
5. Feminine voice: Not man made.

Your theory that all femininity is non-natural is pretty easily debunked. It's rather that the perception of naturally feminine traits can be influenced by social norms.

It always makes me sad to see young girls with a lot of makeup. I used to wear makeup daily too, but when I went on a vacation, forgot all my makeup home, and had to be without it for a few weeks, I began to realise how bad it was for me. It was terrible for my self esteem, and so bad for my skin.

Nothing changed people were told to wear extreme versions of corsets to the point of health issues aka not how they should have been worn and people especially women were also told to get plastic surgery even when they were already beautyful most cases of " natural beauty " that everyone talks about is after all of the fakeness was added its always after pictures never the real look and old times were very strict on how everyone should have looked

6:21 This rings true, and can be used for advantage by some people. I think the same probably went for men as well in like, ancient courts. In that case, I wonder if women felt less comfortable because they weren't allowed to mask their features, but men were. In those times, also makeup marked women in a way it didn't men, and in the same way it does now. 8:34 in this case

what would define femininity that is innate that wouldn't also be oppressive?

You should look into this Korean film Human Form, it’s a dystopian horror flick that centers around the protagonist being self conscious, feeling alienated, ugly, to the point where she pursues plastic surgery. The reveal is that she is an average looking, conventionally attractive young girl, but her perception is so distorted bc everyone around her is so surgically altered with a ghastly, artificial, inhuman, almost marionette like appearance. It’s becoming somewhat of a metaphor seeing as plastic surgery has become more accessible monetarily, & more normalized/desired, especially as the range of interventions expands.

My daughter who is 14 has a whole array of things she just put in her cart and half of them are anti aging creams; we had a whole discussion about why she is beautiful and why bags under her eyes are normal and will always occur. My point is this video is relevant

The way ED culture has blended into everyday media has been seamless. It used to be more magazines and ads. Now, it's everywhere we look.

Also, dont get me started on how the sillies have created "sapiosexual" to indiacte that they find personality attractive.

Well. Thats realy toxic. Allso how stupid are men today. Regardless ethnicy, race or community. A lot of heterosexual men are stupid. Perhaps few men can be more logic and understand that beauty are not important and control or other things manmade are supertoxic and dangerous. I never thought we millennials could change our self. But I gouess we faild as well. Bespice all this manipulation of media and government and meny things who keeping manipulate men to think this us right even if this is wrong. I'm glad that I'm different from those males. And I will keep have self control and selfresponsible without any wrongdoing. And hope never do anything wrong at all. I'm glad there have been females who learned me menything in my childhood.

I think my bf, who is trained dermatologist and worked in cosmetology for a while, treasures and compliments me so much despite my own deep discontent with my natural features (big booba sags and humans are hairy and stretch marks only fade, big shocker, yeah) so much exactly because he knows how actual humans look from years of training and knows the underbelly of the industry (and that’s exactly why he’s switching fields). I haven’t got anything done to my looks and barely put on makeup (I have rosacea and my hands are not steady, so I have a goddamn good reason to keep it minimal and rare), and I am almost 30. I have left the beauty standards rat race ages ago and tried to get by as a cave-dwelling goblin in the increasingly artificial world of beauty enchantments, it was tough as I was bullied by women first who tried to sell me procedures and shite I didn’t need nor wanted to pay for. I studied biology well at school and read extracurricular, so I know full well even something benign like a tattoo can mess with your body and be lethal, not to take any intervention lightly, and I prefer to deal only with migraines and spastic pains and neurological condition that I have in my 30s and postpone any autoimmune bs (like high probability of colon cancer running in the family) into my late adulthood, yeah.

The idea that women/girls are more feminine if we strip, tweak and modify everything that naturally comes on our bodies, it’s insanity and dystopian. I also hate when males try to compare that to them having the unrealistic standards of being muscular and tall, like it’s significantly easier to gain muscle as a male and attainable for most males. Men are never pressured to shave, groom their nails and hands/facial/body hair, wearing wigs, extensions, makeup, get cosmetic surgeries, wearing clothing and shoes that are impractical and uncomfortable and so much more. I’d rather have the expectation of being fit and strong as opposed to wtf women and girls are expected to adhere to.

That spicy bloody Mary looks delicious.

Kids are screwed because they are exposed to such distorted images on social media and believe what they see.

I was so impressed with the guy who came right out and said that hairlessness is juvenile, since it is. Grown people have hair in specific places. It's natural to have it. Being repulsed by the natural adult form is the ultimate indoctrination.

I heard an interview once with a female doctor that regularly did circumcisions. She said that most of her clients were young, newly sexually active males that wanted the procedure done because the girls they got with wanted nothing to do with that thing until it was snipped..all people have things they don't like about others, I guess.. it's not just dudes

I'm glad more women call this out. A lot of women get defensive (stop shaming other women). It's not about shaming women, it's calling out patriarchal exploitative practices that women are manipulated into doing. I don't believe that women enjoy constantly trying to mold themselves into these unattainable standards, not even when they claim they do these things because it makes them good. I don't buy it. Besides, how can it be mentally healthy for anyone to inject themselves with silicone and chemicals, get cut open to rearrange body parts and all for some outer validation, even though the validation comes in the form of objectification?
This is why "choice feminism" is such bs.

That video of the male plastic surgeons is honestly enraging – they're literally admitting that they've been injecting practically unknown substances into trusting women's faces!

Ok good video, with good points, but the blatant transphobia was both hurtful and unnecessary.

I don't see the point in bashing trans women when every woman should fight side by side against those oppressive beauty standards.

Holy crap that plastic surgery clinic where every staff member has insane amounts of Botox. It’s especially worrying that 24 year olds are getting Botox, like seriously? A lot of these women damage their skin with heavy sun exposure and tanning. All that sun damage causes premature wrinkles, age spots, etc. So then they get Botox for their crows feet caused by heavy tanning, feeding into this expensive beauty cycle that makes them look worse in the long run.

Women don’t have to get their nails done at all, most men don’t care about nails and I think the long claws look silly. The nails are more for other women IMO.

It`s real fucking bleak that women who used to have such beautiful, interesting features, like Anya Taylor-Johnson or Dove Cameron, are now having their faces completely altered because some nasty-ass producer probably told them it would help their career

Once in a college women's studies course (when it was still called women's studies), I brought in a giant, heavy tote bag full of all the beauty supplies I, a not remarkably feminine woman, owned to illustrate the point of whatever essay we had read for that class. It seems today there is no inclination in liberal feminism at all to look at beauty culture with any kind of critical eye. Korean women are going 4B, and meanwhile Western women are like, "My very expensive 14 step Korean daily beauty regimen is not at all a burden, it's actually an important part of self care!"

Have you watched "Glory"? The Korean series, with a gorgeous actress that was bullied by Koreans for ‘looking too old’ (I think I don’t have to explain how effed up Korean beauty standards towards women are)
