I have already seen it. Its actually pretty good, I loved Regina, Karen, and Damian. The others did fantastic as well. It does definitely have a lot of tiktok stuff in it. It also took out the racism, and it has a lot of gay couples in it. You can see them making out in the background of basically every shot. It a good adaptation, however a little raunchier than the original, but a good innbetween of the movie and Broadway show.
This is going to sound mean, but why is nobody attractive in this movie? Aaron is looks like the type of guy you would avoid in high school because think he's weird not hot, and the plastics are supposed to be hot and they are average at best, and Regina is overweight. Nobody has the right look, and if, like Renee, they could sing well I would be ok with it, but everybody but Regina is mediocre vocally?
The reason why the stereotypes worked in the original is because its SATIRE. The film was trying to make fun of these stereotypes and mean girls. These stereotypes are bad if viewers are meant to take them literally or valid
they’ve made the film too PC. people are too sensitive now they’ve had to ruin classic movies. they’ve changed up characters and made it too Gen Z and it’s based in the 2000s and Y2K where things were quite different to now. disappointed – I was gonna watch it but it’s too much of a remake and im second thinking it.
This movie it just bad…the actors look like walmart's knock-offs and i personally dont think they really embody the characters or really portray them well from the original movie, just a terrible movie. And the second mean girls movie did not the the same thing mean girls did.
I had a great time watching the movie. The jokes were hilarious and the songs were catchy. As someone who never went to an american high school i never looked at the original as a reflection of the reality. To me it always felt like fantasy-land so i didn't have any problems accepting now a different fantasy-land. I get that some people are upset by the new version not reflecting their own experiences like the original does. But the remake offers so much new stuff that i don't think it's even necessary to compare the two. I'm just glad to now have to very different versions of Mean Girls to enjoy in the future.
I never understood modern films based on a school putting in social media in it. There’s no schools where everyone just so happens to follow everybody and their videos about the school goes viral. This idea is so outdated. And also they really shouldve just brought this back with whole new characters, possibly the original casts children or whatever. And considering Tina fey was on board with this film, you wouldve thought she wouldve done something like that
It didn’t do well because it is a remake based on something that was revolutionary almost 20 years ago. They needed to do a modern take that is based on real research and observation, not high school dynamics from the 2000s sanitized for 2024 audiences. No one is going to take a chance on a new thing, though, so it won’t be made.
Also, studios do not want criticism for their movies. If it’s not called a perfect masterpiece for 3 weeks straight, they won’t bother. No one is willing to be real. They want a quick cash grab.
I love how they made Karen Indian and made Gretchen white, i cant even tell if they were being woke or not anymore. Karen does better with being white. Being the classic blue eyed blonde bimbo!
One big thing I noticed is that we LOST disabled representation. The original had good disability representation. It’s just the original you see disabled students just existing. So often, disabled character are “inspirational porn” or to be pity. In the original they were just there. In the new film, they got rid of them. They weren’t there anymore. It feel like erasure
The way kids are mean nowadays is a bit different from how it was in 2004, but making those accurate changes would change the original material too much for it to be still considered part of Mean Girls material

One big problem? Multiple. Shouldn’t the antagonist who has the school in a trance be attractive?
Completely meh and stale compared to the 2004 version
Bruh. These are movies. Their purpose is entertainmnent. You dont need to think this hard about them.
“Mean Girls made for modern day”, 2004 mean girls still fits with modern day and is still popular. What he means is, it’s “woke”
I'm sorry, what? the lyrics are bad, and the vocals were good?????

the vocals of the film are way worse compared to the actual musical numbers, btw. if you listen to a comparison it’s very clear.
Women blinded to their own bad behavior lol. Who knew that was even possible!
Why is everyone uglier?

too woke. the world is turning fragile

All of the changes are unnecessary.
I'll tell you what it's missing. The entire point by making everything PC.

Something I thought was really weird was that they made it very clear they wanted to incorporate social media more, but cut out Stop??
